FINANCIAL POLICIES

Co-pays are due on the day of your visit. We bill most insurance companies directly for examinations and procedures. Any balance not covered by insurance is due within 30 days after insurance has paid its portion.

To help you pay your balance in a timely fashion, we collect debit or credit card information at the time of registration. You will choose one of two options:

  • have our office bill the debit/credit card immediately after insurance has paid its portion

OR

  • have our office wait for payment directly from you—charging the card only if payment has not been made within 45 days of insurance paying its portion

Care Credit

For patients who do not have a credit or debit account, Pearl Place Women’s Care is now associated with CareCredit, a GE Money Bank healthcare financing company. CareCredit has several payment plans. Our staff will gladly help with the application process.

EMERGENCIES

If you have an emergency, please use the following guidelines:

  • Telephone our office: 253-761-2244
  • During office hours, you will be given directions by a qualified staff member. If you need to be seen, we will do our best to work you in the day you call, so it is always better to call earlier rather than later.
  • After hours, the call is processed by the answering service to the practitioner on call. If you are a midwife patient, your call will be forwarded to the midwife on call. Otherwise, you will speak with the physician on call.
  • If you are unable to reach us due to mechanical failure of the telephone system and have a pregnancy related problem, call Labor and Delivery at St. Joseph’s Hospital: 253-426-6855.
  • If you have a life-threatening emergency, call 911. You will be taken the emergency room best qualified to handle your problem.

APPOINTMENTS

Make an appointment by calling 253-761-2244. We do our best to have immediate appointments available for urgent problems and emergencies. Your annual health exam is just as important, but not as urgent, so please plan to make that appointment several weeks in advance.

The changeable nature of our business makes rescheduling a fact of life. If your provider is out of the office catching a baby, we will do our best to let you know in time to reschedule, or fit you in with one of her partners so that you can still be seen that day. We always appreciate your understanding.

To help our office continue to run smoothly, we ask that you arrive 10-15 minutes in advance of your appointment to fill out registration paperwork. Patients who arrive 10 minutes or more after their appointment time will be asked to reschedule. Those who habitually miss appointments without calling to cancel will be charged a $50.00 “no-show” fee.

PRESCRIPTIONS

Please ask your provider for a written prescription at the time of our examination. You may take it to your pharmacy or send it to your mail-order prescription service. Refills of non-narcotic medication may be requested over the telephone during regular office hours, but may take up to 48 hours for processing. You may also ask your pharmacy to fax a refill request to our office at 253-761-1040.

As a general rule, new medications are not prescribed without an examination. Narcotic pain medication is not prescribed or refilled after hours.
