3D/4D Ultra Sound

Pearl Place Women’s Care offers the best in ultrasound imaging for women’s health applications and pregnancy surveillance. As you may know, ultrasound has improved by leaps and bounds over the last few years. Recently, PPWC made the commitment to keep up with this technology and purchased one of the best ultrasound systems available, the GE Voluson. This system is capable of producing very high-resolution 3D and stunning 4D images. Because this type of imaging is so new, it is not yet used to take measurements or diagnose problems, and is not covered by insurance. It is available for “recreational” use by patients who would like incredibly clear still portraits and a DVD record of their unborn child’s movements in the womb. These are typically taken at 29 to 32 weeks of pregnancy.

The image above is the ultra-high resolution 3D ultrasound image suitable for a still portrait. The image below is a frozen 4D image of the baby’s profile. “4D” images are the baby’s movement captured in near real-time and recorded in color on DVD.

The type of ultrasound images suitable for taking measurements and diagnosing problems are shown below. On a state-of-the-art ultrasound system like that at Pearl Place, these images are also incredibly clear, making them desirable for diagnostic purposes.

The images above are of very early pregnancies. The measurements obtained with these images are very reliable for dating purposes.

The pictures above are of an umbilical cord with colorized blood-flow, and of a baby having its’ 20-week survey of organ systems. These types of images, obtained for medical (not recreational) purposes, are usually covered by insurance. They can also be printed out for the baby book and stored on a DVD.
